A classroom for E.S.L.

This year we have a brand new classroom to teach English in our school. I'm so excited that finally we got one! It's been my dream for years!

Why can it be useful to have a place specially set to teach English as a second language (E.S.L.)?

Some academic studies have stated that using an English classroom improves second language learning.
* It fosters language immersion by visual supports: posters, flashcards, toys, books... They create an environment that encourages the use and learning of the foreign language.

* It eases teachers' tasks by organising resources in a specific place of the school. English teachers usually have a lot of stuff (flashcards, cd-players, posters, games...) that are heavy to carry from one room to another.

* It makes it easier to reach resources also to students.

* An English classroom stimulates students and teachers creativity: they are able to create a space together thát invites to learn foreign language. All of them can be contributors to "decorate" and improve the space.

* It's easier to have better ITC resources, especially those regarding listening tasks: Interactive White boards, Computers with headphones, sound devices, video, etc...

* It's easier also and more practical to create learning spaces such as reading corners, workshops, game center, etc...

So if you teacher do not have one English Classroom and you are thinking about having one,  here your are some reasons that can support your idea in front of your school mates.

In few days I'll be sharing with your some good ideas to  implement in your own English Classroom.
See you soon!
